In mid-February, at the scientific seminar of the Russian Association of Artificial Intelligence (RAAI), a report by the head of Laboratory Dmitry Rogatkin on the topic "Is the artificial (or natural?) consciousness in a technical intellectual system possible?" took place. In his report, the author based on the analysis of existing views on the problem of consciousness and on the evolution of control in living systems, including the process of the emergence of consciousness, leaded its arguments in favor of the possibility of engineering and technical formulation of the task of creating technical systems with elements of self-consciousness. He also expressed a number of basic principles, ideas and technologies which may underlie the functioning of such systems. The PowerPoint presentation of the report (Russian version only, sorry) can be found on the RAAI website. See here.
